They grow at a moderate rate (5-6 pounds in 9-11 weeks), resulting in succulent meat with more yellow omega-3 fat and less saturated fat than faster-growing breeds.

A typical “Red Ranger” hybrid is fast growing and has desirable carcass qualities at 11-13 weeks of age. “Freedom Rangers” are exceptional pasture-raised birds and come in diverse colors and body types.

Freedom Ranger Chickens can also live (and thrive) past adolescence and can go on to become egg layers, even if that isn't their primary function. They'll lay brown eggs at an approximate rate of 3 to 4 per week once they've reached maturity, and have the capability to fit in with the rest of your flock just fine.

Because they don't experience health issues, Freedom Rangers can live much longer than Cornish Cross. We have kept one alive and healthy for 3 years.

At 3.5 weeks old, Freedom Rangers are nearly fully feathered and ready to get outside! That brooder gets smaller every day when you're a fast growing baby chicken.

For outdoor space, think more along the lines of 8 to 10 square feet per bird. If you plan to have a smaller flock (under 1,000), you likely already have the space you need. When you purchase chicks from Freedom Ranger for your broiler farm, also consider the price or savings you may have if you are buying more.

Once out of the brooder, they are put on the pasture in a moveable shelter to keep them out of the sun when needed and to have a safe place to roost at night. The shelter is moved twice a day within a 4 acre fenced pasture to ensure they have fresh grass and the pastures don't get over fertilized.
